Where we go:
Glacier Institute’s Discovery School at Big Creek Environmental Education Center, near the west entrance of Glacier National Park
Why we go:
In 6th grade, students go on a 5-day trip with the goals of making ecology lessons come alive through experiential learning, building community, and sharing experiences in a beautiful outdoor setting. The Discovery School provides a hands-on, field-based outdoor education program designed especially for our students. We will study aquatic ecology, wildlife adaptations and behaviors, geology and many other topics in the Crown of the Continent ecosystem. In addition to placed-based experiential science classes, this spring trip provides students opportunities for personal growth and stepping outside of their comfort zone. Students build relationships in a deeper, more meaningful way and connect their learning to real-life situations.
When we go:
Dates: Monday, April 20th – Friday, April 24th, 2020
Costs and financial aid:
The total cost for the 2020 spring trip is $525 which includes tuition, room and board, as well as transportation to and from Discovery School. Payment is due to the MIS office by March 8th.
Financial aid is available and must be applied for by October 31st. The applications are available from Jen Gebo or from the MIS Business Office.
