Welcome back! I hope everyone had a peaceful and relaxing holiday break. It was wonderful to return to school and reconnect with all of our fabulous kiddos.
In English, the 8th grade is continuing with their unit on To Kill A Mockingbird and moving towards their summative personal essay. The 7th graders are beginning a new unit on Contemporary American Poetry and the 6th graders are beginning a unit based on the novel, A Long Walk to Water. This Friday, I enjoyed bringing our middle school group to UM to watch some of the Ballet Beyond Borders competition. They were able to watch incredible young dancers from all over the globe.
Also, this week we announced the optional overnight trip to the Gordon-Reese cabin near Lost Trail Pass, on January 24th – 25th. The purpose of this trip is to offer a fun, experiential learning trip that provides opportunity to complete a service project for the Forest Service, try a new winter sport and build community within the Middle School class. Space is quite limited. Interested students were given additional information earlier this week, along with a permission form that must be returned by Monday, January 13th.
Our annual Middle School DANCE is coming up on Friday, February 7th. Stay tuned for more information!
Save the date for the MIS Middle School Science Fair: Wednesday afternoon, March 25th, 2020. 7th and 8th graders will also participate in the Montana State Science Fair on Monday, March 31st. More details to come!
