Dear Middle School Parents and Students,

Welcome to another school year full of fun activities and learning experiences!

My name is Michelle Lalinde and I will be the Spanish teacher for ten 6th grade students!

Here is a little information about me.

I was born in Bogota, Colombia. I was homeschooled for 7 years and I started college at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, where I got a BA in Modern Languages. I am looking forward to enroll in graduate studies next year to continue my life-long learning experiences. I’ve worked in various schools in Colombia as an English teacher, and I have many years of experience in the field of private lessons. I love singing and learning how to play ukulele. I can solve a Rubik’s cube in less than a minute and I love nail art.

We have a lot of plans for the Spanish classroom this year and we hope that you will find this class exciting and engaging while we explore new cultures and language structures. We will be focusing on different Spanish-speaking countries of the world and discovering different cultural traditions and holidays as we progress through theme based units that will allow you to explore your own language potential! We will be using a textbook called ¡Avancemos! to enrich our Spanish language curriculum and we will complete several projects based on unit themes and student interests.

I am excited to work with all of you and I know we will have a successful school year! Parents, feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns, and we will be in constant communication to ensure the success of your children. Students, I can’t wait to work with you and I look forward to a year full of new learning and teaching experiences!
